We are blessed to have Holy Spirit dwelling within each of us. He leads us. He comforts us. And because he knows all truth, He holds us accountable. Bonhoeffer’s messages reflected the highest level of accountability.
“Christians do not wish to escape repentance, or chaos, if it is God’s will to bring it upon us. We must take this judgement as Christians.” and “Christians are obligated like Christ, to pay the price for the sins of others, to lead the way in that.”
Bonhoeffer p. 399
There is a spiritual war going on and we need to gain understanding of this.
“Confirmands today are like young soldiers marching to war, the war of Jesus Christ against the gods of this world. It is a war that demands the commitment of one’s whole life. Is not God, our Lord, worthy of this struggle?”
Bonhoeffer p. 302
We cannot just look to leaders to reconcile us and our nation to God. WE NEED TO BE CONDUITS FOR RECONCILIATION!
“Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, “You are old and your sons do not follow in your ways; appoint for us, then, a king to govern us, like other nations.” But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to govern us.” Samuel prayed to the Lord, and the Lord said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them.””
1 Samuel 8:4-7
Israel asked for a King. Again, they chose to stay one step removed from a direct connection with God. They chose government to preside in judgement over them instead of a merciful and loving God.
What areas are you still holding back from answering to God on?
They were unwilling to completely let go of old ways, keeping them from a closer relationship with God the Father. What is holding you back from a closer relationship with God?
Let’s be different from this time in Israel’s history. Let us come together as one nation under God, seeking a direct connection with Him through Christ and Holy Spirit. Let us review the seven pillars of our society, seek God’s plan for change and our part in that plan.
Take time to think and pray regarding the 7 Pillars of Society:
Government: Pray for righteous leaders and for any we believe righteous who were not elected, pray God’s path for them will be clear.
Religion: Pray for truth in the Word over denominational divisions.
Education: Pray for cleansing of educational materials with the Blood of Jesus Christ, for prayer and reading of the Bible to be brought back to public schools.
Media: Pray for everyone in our nation to be exposed to the truth. Pray the scales will fall from their eyes to see God’s truth in our world.
Business: Pray for strength to stand, loving each other as Jesus did.
Arts & Science: Pray for recommitment to righteousness, following God and His ways instead of those of the flesh
Family: Pray hearts will be circumcised of our own sin.
“If you will fear the Lord and serve him and heed his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, and if both you and the king who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God, it will be well; but if you will not heed the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then the hand of the Lord will be against you and your king.”
1 Samuel 12:14-15
Be challenged to hold yourself more accountable each day. Pray for the pillars of our society in this nation and seek God’s direction regarding action He desires you to take.
May we learn from those who have come before us and those around us, to bring God’s Kingdom to our world.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13
May God be the glory!!
Amen.
